We have been an approved Training Practice since 1990. There
is usually a fully qualified doctor gaining experience in the practice for a
year at a time. Please consult them with confidence - they already have
extensive hospital experience.
Information
for GP Registrars Hillview Medical Centre is a spacious, modern surgery built in
1997 in central Woking, adjacent to Woking Community Hospital, and close to
Woking main-line station and the Peacocks shopping centre. The practice has five
partners and a part-time assistant, and covers a population of approximately
10,500 patients.
We have been a registered charity since 1996. The Hillview Charitable Trust,
thanks to the wonderful generosity of many of our patients, has funded the
purchase of many items of medical equipment not normally available through the
NHS. We have been involved with GP training since 1990. Dr Peter Smith and Dr
Deborah Shiel are both approved trainers.
The building has seven consulting rooms (including two dedicated registrar
rooms), two treatment rooms and a large waiting area, together with all the
administrative and office space associated with a large practice. Upstairs is a
large common room with TV/Video facilities. We also accommodate a physiotherapy
and sports injury clinic, together with a clinical hypnotherapist.
In addition to providing the usual in-house services such as diabetes, asthma,
immunisation, travel, minor surgery and well-women clinics, we also offer
homeopathy, acupuncture and counselling to our patients.
The partners have a wide range of clinical interests, including hospital
appointments, drug trials, cryotherapy and alternative medicine. We are actively
involved in practice-based commissioning in Woking, in collaboration with three
other local practices.
In addition to their in-house teaching, GP Registrars attend the Guildford
University day release course, and also meet twice weekly at the postgraduate
centre at St Peters Hospital Chertsey during term time.
Here at Hillview we pride ourselves in providing, a friendly and supportive
educational setting for GP training in first-class surroundings.
