Practice History
The practice has been in existence since the
beginnings of the NHS. In the 1960s a purpose-built surgery was erected on our
previous site at Guildford Road and, despite modest expansion in the 1970s, it
was proving hopelessly inadequate by the late 1980s to meet demands. The surgery
had been trying to move into a new building since 1990 and we eventually moved
to our present purpose-built practice in November 1997.
Our
Mission Statement
Our mission statement is “to provide the highest quality, personal, primary and
continuing medical care to our patients, by intervening educationally,
preventively and therapeutically to promote health. We pay attention to
physical, psychological and social needs, and work with other agencies to
achieve our goals.”
To achieve this mission our new building has all the space and facilities to
take us well into the this century and is perfectly placed for us to work in
collaboration with the local Community Hospital, Woking Hospice, Surrey Primary
Care Trust and other general practices. We have no less than six consulting
rooms, treatment and minor surgery facilities, together with administrative
space and offices needed to run a general practice.
We have been a registered charity since 1996. Our charity fund was initiated by
Dr Newman and three of our patients, at a time when construction of the new
building was underway and many patients were asking how they could help. From
this fund we have been able to buy many items of medical equipment not normally
available through the NHS.
Disabled
Access
Both surgeries have gentle ramps to ease access to the
building.
